The past few

Simply Her (Singapore) - - Hello! -

months have gone by in a whirlwind of celebrations: birthdays, Christmas, New Year and the birth of my baby, Anthony. Despite the sleepless nights and exhaustion, my husband and I feel terribly blessed to be parents to two boys and two girls.

One of the challenges for us working mums is finding the time for all that needs to be done, including looking after Hubby. Often, with days filled with work and family matters, personal health takes a back seat.

In this issue, to help you help your hubby, we challenged three men to lose weight in a month by improving their diet and trying Brazilian jiu-jitsu, physical conditioning workouts and cycling classes (pg 52). We also give you ideas on how to keep fit together and ask our experts about the most common diseases that strike men, and how often they should get screened for them.

Of course, you need to look after your health too, so we have experts’ tips to help you find the work-life balance that’s right for you. Apparently, letting go of perfectionism can help you cope better. The alternative is striving for excellence – find out why on pg 66.

Ahead of the Chinese New Year, we did all the tasting and testing for you, so you can shop and prepare your reunion dinner with as little stress as possible. We have recipes you can finish in four (yes, four!) steps or less (pg 94), the best yusheng (pg 102) and pencai (pg 106), the yummiest new sweets and snacks (pg 100), and how to differentiate various types of mandarin oranges and buy the freshest ones (pg 104).

We at Simply Her wish you happiness and prosperity in the Year of the Goat!
