Simply Her (Singapore) - - Front Page - BY MIA CHENYZE

STANDARD NALU SALMON, FROM ALOHA POKE $15.90, 92 Amoy Street, tel: 6221- 6565.

Salad meets bara chirashi at this Telok Ayer shop, with two generous scoops of salmon poke (the Hawaiian version of tuna tar tare) over a base of brown rice, sushi rice and rocket leaves. Pomegranate seeds, pineapple chunks, edamame, walnuts, almonds, corn, and ebiko add texture and colour. The sashimi lovers in our team couldn’t stop raving about what an awesome idea this poke bowl is. You can also ask to switch your poke to the spicy version.

ROOSTER’S CROW, FROM GRAIN TRADERS

$16

Perfect for those who prefer to pile on the proteins rather than the veggies. You get tender shreds of slow- roasted chicken ( yes, even the chicken breast is moist) and a Mexican medley of beans, and we relished the crunch and snap from the walnuts, cashews, sliced almonds, broccoli, asparagus spears and edamame.

You’ll appreciate that the carbohydrates in this salad – roasted bell peppers and quinoa – rank low on the glycaemic index, so you’re less likely to suffer an energy slump.

UPSTREAM, FROM GRAIN TRADERS $16, # 01- 01/ 02/ 03 Capitagreen, 138 Market Street, tel: 6348- 6559.

This place is no salad bar, but there is no lack of options for your daily dose of greens. Upstream is packed with kale and spinach, and served with a thick slab of wasabi- marinated salmon  llet. Thanks to the sous vide- then- grill treatment, the salmon is a perfect pink with beautiful char marks. The house- made pickled cucumber slices are an addictive, refreshing contrast to the umami avours, and sweet cubes of butternut squash and sweet potatoes round up the salad.

GUACAMONSTER SALAD, FROM GUAC & GO $14, # 01- 08 Maxwell Chambers, 32 Maxwell Road, tel: 6221-2117.

Guacamole is the name of the game at this salad bar opened by two avocado devotees who aim to spread the word about the superfood’s healthful proper ties. We love that this salad is every bit as hear ty as it sounds. The romaine lettuce base is heaped with chunks of sweet potato, Cajun chicken cubes, lentils, tomato salsa, almonds, and of course a giant helping of guacamole. It  lled us up!
