Hyper-efficient food production can be credited for our capacity to feed an unprecedented number of the world's population.
Yet, it also has a flip side – the use of preservatives, antibiotics, pesticides, and sometimes unsavoury living conditions of livestock, etc. This is the flipside that organic stores try to address for a growing number of consumers made aware of the issues. Food that is grown naturally, responsibly, with lesser quarter given to achieving all-out economies of scale, and more profits ploughed back to farming communities. It's one way to eat our way to a better world for all.
