Wooden Heart

Singapore Tatler Homes - - SPECIAL FEATURE -

Through the course of his work, the owner had collected leftover raw oak materials which he wanted incorporated into his home design in some way. Long vertical strips were carefully laid on the walls in transitional spaces, extending upwards from the first to the second level of the home. Once dusty and smudged, the oak panels’ hidden beauty was uncovered with metal brushing techniques. These pieces, which could have been discarded, found new life as a key design feature of this home. These rustic walls create a cohesive design language for the entire home. On the first floor, the wood panels juxtapose against a natural stone wall. To create the quiet, understated look, the design team picked out stone with subtle natural grains. The sensuous finish matches the crisp lines and dark hue of the furnishings. All of these contrast against the white walls and window coverings to convey a disciplined interior. As the design team describes, the home is a simple space for living, where clean modern lines display simple luxur y without ostentation.
