THE PRIMARY DIRECTIVE FROM DEVELOPER

Tong Eng Group to KGID was to emphasise the capaciousness of the lof ty proportions of its Goodwood Grand condominium—a challenge that the interior design firm emphatically rose to. Run by husband-and-wife team Kelvin and Karen Gan, the firm’s penchant for modernity and subtle opulence has earned it several distinctions. The couple was also named among the 50 Most Influential in Singapore Design by Singapore Tatler Homes in 2015 and 2016. Designed as a showflat unit, the alluring apar tment that the dynamic duo produced for the project conveyed how space can be optimised by making the most of its doublevolume spaces and discreet storage. “The client desired a modern ambience with a touch of colour and contemporar y accents,” recalls Kelvin, who prioritises attention to detail and attentiveness to the clients’ needs throughout ever y design process. “To achieve this, I decorated this showflat with fun and vibrant colours, while applying geometric shapes to the apar tment.”

Modern Opulence

To craft a classic yet lively interior, the duo decided to complement sombre straight lines with whimsical sofa cushions and rabbit sculptures. “The bespoke cupboards of the main mantelpiece provide plenty of storage space, and come with a ladder for reaching the upper shelves. The coffee tables we chose can be detached and used as ser ving trays,” he explains.
