Great for: Peranakan jewellery Founder and designer: Thomis Kwan Foundation Jewellers catapulted to fame last year after news broke that Queen Elizabeth often wore a Peranakan brooch made by them, which had been gifted to her by the Government of Singapore in 2012. Foundation is one of the only jewellers in Singapore that focuses on preserving the Peranakan craft, which uses ancient goldsmithing techniques to create intricate motifs that are inherently linked to this culture. Thomis seeks to modernise this art and hopes that the next generation will continue to appreciate this cultural craft.
