Singapore Tatler - - WATCHES -

What is New York without a jaunt through its potent art scene? From The Met (The Metropolitan Museum of Art), to the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum and Moma (The Museum of Modern Art), some of the world’s most beautifully crafted art pieces call this city home. Likewise, Harry Winston is constantly in touch with the arts. Its Métiers d’arts collection has fused luxury watchmaking with numerous traditional skills and ethnic crafts including marquetry, plumasserie or feather art, grand feu enamel and lacework. In the Premier Delicate Silk Automatic 36mm, Harry Winston explored the ancient art of raw silk weaving and embossing. Four variations complete the collection, all of which feature silk dials embossed with 18 or 22K gold. The woven raw material used is especially unique. According to a Harry Winston spokesperson, it is completely untouched by human hands. Dyed in three colours, with one left in its original hue, the dials bear either floral or star-shaped motifs inspired by European royal houses. Whether in spirit or in form, New York City has inspired countless artistic endeavours. These timepieces by Harry Winston aren’t the first, and they certainly won’t be the last, but they most definitely have made the Big Apple a little bit shinier.
