Let's Talk

Singapore Women's Weekly (Singapore) - - SETTER STYLE - Editor-in-Chief Barbara Koh

There’s a quote that goes “Home is where your story begins” and it’s true. My old family home, where I was brought back to as a newborn, and only vacated a couple of years ago when my Granny passed on, is where my story began. And even now, I find it hard to venture too far from the East. It’s where I feel most comfortable: Where I went to school, where my children go to school, where my favourite food haunts lie, where I hung out with my friends, where I fell in love... As part of our Celebrate Singapore issue, we decided to ask homegrown stars Dick Lee (who’s out with a new movie this month called Wonder Boy), Irene Ang and Belinda Lee about their favourite spots on the Red Dot, and they willingly agreed. Senior Features Writer Natalya Molok, who went on a trail with them for “This Is Home, Truly”, page 29, shares, “It showed how proud they were to be from a place that had so much meaning and nostalgia, and that shaped them from childhood into adulthood.”

It’s hard not to have our hearts swell with pride as we put together this issue. We showcase the must-know beauty, fashion and decor brands that are from Sg, and shine the spotlight on talented women, including cover girl Michelle Chong and the nominees in this year’s Great Women of Our Time Awards. May you be inspired by all their stories!

Kudos to the team for pulling together a special issue to Celebrate Singapore. Here they are behind the scenes with

(clockwise from left) Michelle Chong; Irene Ang, with Senior Features Writer Natalya Molok calling the shots; Elizabeth Liew and Arissa Ha sorting through all the products for our Hair Awards; and with Doris Goh for our annual Great Women Of Our Time...
