Cult beauty prod­ucts do won­ders for your skin, but they also need great de­signs to make them stand out on the shelves. While Korea and Ja­pan may lead Asian beauty trends, Sin­ga­pore typ­i­cally leads the wave of beauty trends in South Asia. This is why the L’Oreal group en­gaged design agency Why? Beauty Design’s Sin­ga­pore arm to pro­duce pack­ag­ing de­signs for its up­com­ing prod­ucts in South Asia, in­clud­ing the new Gar­nier Skin Naturals Light Com­plete Yo­ghurt Sleep­ing Mask.

Whiten­ing skincare is hugely pop­u­lar in Asia, and Gar­nier’s Light Com­plete is the brand’s #1 whiten­ing skincare range. Launched in June, the Gar­nier Skin Naturals Light Com­plete Yo­ghurt Sleep­ing Mask con­tains soy yo­ghurt pro­bi­otic ex­tract, vi­ta­min C and lemon essence to brighten your skin while you en­joy your beauty sleep, ban­ish­ing dark spots and dull skin.

Why Sin­ga­pore? The Sin­ga­pore team of Why? Beauty Design was cho­sen for this project as they were pas­sion­ate and pro-ac­tive in their beauty re­search, deep-div­ing with the Gar­nier team to en­sure that the pack de­signs res­onated deeply with Gar­nier’s con­sumers.

Work­ing with Why? Beauty Design’s Sin­ga­pore team has also en­abled a tar­geted ap­proach for South Asia, which is dif­fer­ent from other mar­kets like Europe and Amer­ica. In South Asia, prod­uct de­vel­op­ment is cen­tered on the nat­u­ral con­cept as the brand is known as “Gar­nier Skin Naturals”; in Europe, it is “Gar­nier Skin Ac­tive.” Gar­nier’s prod­ucts in South Asia need a fresh, light look to match its nat­u­ral im­age.

Sin­ga­pore agen­cies are also strong be­cause of their ex­po­sure to global design trends. They have a much higher qual­ity of post­pro­duc­tion, and are also able to main­tain con­sis­tency in brand un­der­stand­ing and im­age across mar­kets.

As we cel­e­brate Na­tional Day this month, we’re proud to share in the beauty of lo­cal de­signs. With Gar­nier’s cut­ting edge skincare tech­nol­ogy and Sin­ga­pore’s strong design ca­pa­bil­i­ties, it’s no won­der they’ve pro­duced a win­ning combo.
