SMALL SPEAKER, BIG NAME
Bang & Olufsen
Cast yourself into the past, all the way to 2005… Wow, what are those things?… Now, imagine that, back then, a hi-fi manufacturer like Bang & Olufsen announced a battery-powered portable speaker. Audiophiles everywhere would be having kittens! Back to now – pop! – and it’s still enough to raise an earbrow (the audiophile equivalent of an eyebrow) or two. Fortunately, the 180W-power A2 is gorgeous enough to hold its logo, and from our initial listens, has more than enough mouth to go with its fetching trousers. It may be manbag-sized, but
streaming to it from AptX Bluetooth results in a really surprisingly room-filling sound that emerges from both sides – true 360°, in B&O parlance – so you can put it where you like. Even smarter is
its patented new Adaptive Power Management system, which somehow
enables the A2 to party for up to 24 hours, with a recharge taking just three.
