The Dining Room is a cosy space with high ceilings and a large glass wall that frames the well-tended garden, rock pools and waterfall. It’s the perfect backdrop for a lavish meal of Asian and international fare. Served with sambal prawn, chicken and pickled vegetables, the nasi goreng is the highlight of the meal for its well-balanced spiciness and bold flavours. The signature dish of thick rice vermicelli with prawn, quail egg and cockles in a rich spicy coconut gravy is chock-ablock with ingredients, but would be better with less salt. Black pepper lobster bee hoon in a clay pot proves a good choice; the fine vermicelli with Boston lobster, shiitake mushrooms, choy sum and spring onions braised in the pot is full of rich, juicy morsels. Dessert can be a richly decadent mud pie of layered chocolate ice cream cake oozing with hot chocolate fudge, while the runner-up in the sweets stake is the ice burger—an enticing chocolate and vanilla ice cream sandwich in a sponge cake.
