Cocina del Mar opened—and the food has only gotten better. Alongside Peruvian chef-owner Daniel Chavez, head chef Ng
Yi Yi helms the kitchen, which recently underwent a revamp and expansion. With his relatively large team, Ng produces a hearty Spanish menu that’s ideal for sharing. A meal typically starts with a bowl of deep-fried prawn heads paired with a light, slightly nutty yellow dip made from tomatoes, almonds and walnuts. Must-try dishes include the seasonal burrata and kale salad, which opens your appetite for a paella “Ola”, where the rice is nicely charred and topped with a generous portion of seafood including wild fish, baby calamari and Japanese baby shrimp. Service here is on-point, and starts with chef Chavez personally greeting and checking in on diners if he’s present. The waitstaff are also attentive, even when the restaurant is busy, and are knowledgeable about the menu.
