REGULATOR DIAL

The Peak Selections: Timepieces - - The Brief -

The earliest regulators were actually clocks with discrete hour, minute and seconds subdials, with the minute hand dominating the dial. This allowed watchmakers to more easily set their watch against the regulator on the wall (hence the name). Here, however, the jumping seconds takes up prime position so the focus is on the watch’s “main technical feature”, says Anthony de Haas, A. Lange & Sohne’s director of product development.
