An upcoming Ferrari theme park in Spain gives fans a new way to horse around.
Ferrari is synonymous with serious speed and the thrills that come with it. Last year, the Italian luxury sportscar marque unveiled the LaFerrari, its fastest road car with a top speed of 349kmh. Soon, the brand will offer another way to get hearts racing. Slated to open in Spain in 2016, a Prancing Horse theme park will be home to Europe’s highest and fastest vertical accelerator.
Covering an area of 75,000 sq m, Ferrari Land will be built inside the popular Port Aventura resort and theme park, located south of Barcelona. This will be the second development of its kind, following Ferrari World, which opened in Abu Dhabi in 2010. While speed specifications for Ferrari Land’s vertical accelerator are yet to be revealed, we’re pretty sure it will offer at least as much of an adrenalin rush as Formula Rossa, the key attraction at Ferrari World. It’s the world’s speediest roller coaster, reaching 240kmh in five seconds and featuring a dizzying maximum G-force of 4.8G.
Handily, visitors to Ferrari Land will find a pulse-restoring sanctuary close by. The park will also be the site of the world’s first Ferrari-theme hotel, a luxury five-star establishment with 250 rooms. For those still raring to go, the hotel will offer a special amenity – a driving simulator.
