Phi­lan­thropist to set up wildlife fund

Chi­nese phi­lan­thropist He Qiaonv is ex­pected to an­nounce the first step in a US$1.5 bil­lion (S$2.03 bil­lion) plan for wildlife con­ser­va­tion to­day that may rep­re­sent the largest per­sonal com­mit­ment to the cause. The seven-year pledge stands at more than a third of her cur­rent US$3.6 bil­lion net worth, and sig­nals the emer­gence of Chi­nese lead­er­ship in this area un­der the aus­pices of Pres­i­dent Xi Jin­ping.
