It was named 'The World’s Most Ex­pen­sive Rice’ in 2016 by The Guin­ness World Records and val­ued at a whop­ping US$109 per kg. Now avail­able in Singapore, the Kin­memai Pre­mium ar­ti­sanal rice is blended from five rice va­ri­eties sourced across Ja­pan and flavour-aged for six months. Dur­ing milling, a rig­or­ous rice pro­cess­ing tech­nol­ogy is ap­plied to seal in the nu­tri­ents while re­mov­ing the in­di­gestible wax and husk lay­ers. The re­sult is a de­li­cious, slightly but­tery tex­ture. There is no need to rinse the rice. For best re­sults, sim­ply soak for one hour be­fore cook­ing.
