Lawry’s Prime Rib
Back in 1938, Lawry’s The Prime started serving fine-dining American cuisine in Los Angeles and instantly gained recognition. But it wasn’t until 1999 that Lawry’s reached Singapore’s Paragon shopping mall and later in 2010, relocated to its current site— Mandarin Gallery.
Lawry’s has been known for its consistent and hearty American dishes like their signature slow-roasted prime beef (from $70 for 130g) and their famous spinning bowl salad ($15). But newly appointed executive chef Sherwin Sim injects some Japanese flavours to the menu. Start with the appetizer sampler
($39) featuring a trio of small bites: crispy crab cake; foie gras served with Lawry’s special sauce; or try the beef bruschetta made with Lawry’s slow-roasted prime beef.
For mains, try the grilled New Zealand King salmon ($63) which is grilled in kabayaki sauce then served atop a bed of mushroom risotto, baby carrots and asparagus. Or if you’d prefer red meat aside from Lawry’s signature beef, go for the truffle rosemary crusted lamb ($73), which comes served with mushroom mint jelly, baby carrot puree and polenta.
End with Lawry’s delectable desserts the likes of triple crunchy chocolate layer cake ($15) and tiramisu ($15). —CSJ
