An Indispensable Dinner
Fine wine merchants Taste of Tradition hosted The Indispensable Dinner featuring 10 top wines from boutique American labels this past September. Held at the newly relaunched Art (formerly known as Osteria Art), the five-course wine pairing dinner was specially prepared by chef Beppe de Vito and featured crowd pleasers such as handmade ravioli with Dorper lamb and robiola cheese, and Sanchoku wagyu paired with black garlic.
But the real stars of the dinner were the wines—from Tablas Creek, Antica Terra, Lilian and Sine Qua Non, finishing off with vintage Armagnac from Castarède and XO Cognac from Delamain. Highlights included Maggie Harrison’s Antica Terra Botanica 2014 with its lovely red fruit flavours fringed with pepper, and the very elegant and very limited Antikythera 2014, alongside Harrison’s Lilian range of heady, lavish Syrah and non vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. Last but not least, guests were treated to California cult label Sine Qua Non’s Syrah Mars 2013, rated 98 points by Parker for its beautifully textured, full-bodied elegance, with raspberry and some pepper on the nose.
