Sipping wines and nibbling canapes from the top of Marina Bay Sands would ordinarily sound like a splurgy night out, except Club55 bucks that stereotype. Every evening at 8pm, the 55th storey lounge space transforms into a stage for Flights of Fancy, its latest bar programme centred on—what else?—tasting flights.
To court favour among variety hunters and drinking enthusiasts, flights are pegged around the $20 mark for three samples, and supplemented with an informative tasting sheet. Vinos dominate; five out of seven tasting flights are dedicated to grapey elixirs (from $21)—whites, bubbly, old world reds, new world reds, and dessert pours. There’s also a sake flight ($22) and a beer flight ($18) for nonoenophiles. Teetotallers and designated drivers are not left out of the picture either, thanks to a mocktail flight ($15) that leans on refreshing, fruit-forward spritzers.
Better yet, stretch for the Flight & Petit Plats option (from $44) to pair your libations with a trio of generously sized canapes, such as a soy-glazed ribeye skewer to complement a weighty Merlot. Executive chef Brian Cleere is not in the business of teeny tiny bites, which makes this quite possibly the cheapest three-course wine-pairing dinner in town—and with a glorious view of the Marina Bay to boot.
