Artscience Museum presents Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art and Science of Gems
An exhibition exploring exquisite Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery and their links to minerals is open at the Artscience Museum from 23 April to 14 August. Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art and Science of Gems is the largest heritage exhibition of Van Cleef & Arpels, and is held in collaboration with the French National Museum of Natural History. The exhibition features more than 400 creations from Van Cleef & Arpels, which are drawn from company archives and on loan from private collectors, and 250 minerals from the French National Museum of Natural History Collection.
To show the intersection between mineralogy and jewellery making, the exhibition is structured along two routes: one unearths the evolution of minerals from the deep Earth to its surface, while the other presents the transformation of these minerals into precious works of art in the hands of the Maison’s best craftsmen.
The exhibition is co-curated with Artscience Museum, and is the first of its kind that blends art, craft, history, and geoscience with Van Cleef & Arpels’s rich heritage.
