A. LANGE & SÖHNE DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN
How was it acquired?
This was purchased from Sincere Fine Watches.
What made you buy this watch?
I consider the Datograph Up/down to be one of the best chronographs ever made. Its predecessor was, of course, the Datograph that shook the horological world up, and while some people prefer it, I think that the improvements made in the Datograph Up/down make it an even bigger winner. Some people have remarked that the original Datograph feels “top heavy” on the wrist. The Datograph Up/down negates the issue with its 41mm diameter, which feels more balanced. Then, there’s the longer power reserve, which is also an improvement. Lastly, I like the effort that went into the dial’s design. A. Lange & Söhne chose to use date apertures that are 4 per cent bigger, instead of reusing the old ones, for example.
How does this watch fit into your general lifestyle?
It’s a versatile watch, so I wear it with anything from jeans to suits.
