Eat Out

THE REFUGEE TURKISH AND MIDDLE EASTERN

-

BEST FOR Group outings and family-style eating. FOOD To start, try the halloumi, cumin chicken wings and lamb-and-lentil soup served with Turkish flatbread. For the main meal, try the chicken pirzola

– chicken thighs marinated in Turkish spices and grilled to perfection; cag kebab – skewers of spiced lamb cubes; and the vegetable platter. All are served with baba ghanoush, hummus, spicy rice, tomato marinated in pomegranate molasses and flatbreads. The dessert menu is small and changes seasonally, but the sweet and nutty baklava is always there. DRINKS The restaurant is strictly halaal; no alcohol is served or allowed on the premises. Delightful mocktails are on offer, as are soft drinks and fruity Turkish teas and coffees.

SERVICE Relaxed. AMBIENCE The music, open-flame grill and décor create a relaxed and exotic ambience, transporting you to a sidewalk café in Istanbul. (MI)
