HOOK, LINE AND SINKER

-

BEST FOR Languid coastal meals. FOOD Regulars haunt this rustic little seaside shack; it’s a landmark for simple seafood prepared by chef Stefan and served by owner Jacqui Kruger. Sourcing the freshest catch of the day from False Bay, the chef cooks in an open kitchen, grilling and frying fish to flaky perfection. The rustic lunch menu changes daily but might offer a savoury calamari, olive and tomato risotto followed by battered hake, tartare sauce and hand-cut chips. Pescatarians are in for a treat with wonderful whitebait, rich and creamy fish soup, grilled tuna, swordfish and kabeljou. They also host steak braai nights. Leave room for Jacqui’s sweet and rich chocolate pot. DRINKS A small selection of local wines at low mark-ups and craft beer does the trick. SERVICE Quirky. Talk to Jacqui but leave it up to the chef how to prepare and cook your fish. AMBIENCE A unique down-to-earth venue with oodles of charm. (GH)
