BEST FOR Lunch or dinner with a beer or glass of wine. FOOD Stellenbos­ch Kitchen serves scrumptiou­s breakfasts, lunches and dinners. For starters the Caesar salad, oven-grilled calamari tubes with chorizo, and earthy mixed-mushroom risotto with truffle oil are winners. For mains, the Monster burger with spicy aioli, onion marmalade, Healey’s mature cheddar and fries is a winner, as is the ale-battered hake with fries, mushy peas and charred lemon. The restaurant’s signature Karoo lamb rack with herb crust is another enticing option. Extra sides such as seasonal veggies and beer-battered onion rings cost R30 each. Be tempted by a classic raspberry mille-feuille or a dark chocolate fondant for dessert. DRINKS The wine list includes local varietals, MCC, beer (also on tap) and spirits.
