JMPD crushes 43 ve­hi­cles

THE Jo­han­nes­burg metropoli­tan po­lice depart­ment (JMPD) crushed 43 ve­hi­cles that were in­volved in ac­ci­dents and im­pounded for safe­keep­ing and oth­ers were found aban­doned on pub­lic roads and pave­ments in Jo­han­nes­burg.

“The aban­doned ve­hi­cle own­ers were given seven days no­tice, be­fore they were towed by the JMPD to the city pound. The ve­hi­cles which were un­claimed af­ter a pe­riod of six months and for which a pound fee of R2815 was not paid had be­come mu­nic­i­pal prop­erty,” JMPD spokesper­son chief su­per­in­ten­dent Wayne Min­naar said.

He said 150 ve­hi­cles which had been un­claimed to date.
