Chiefs let number of players go
KAIZER Chiefs have started reshuffling their team as promised after announcing that they have parted ways with several players, with more expected to join the list.
Chiefs announced yesterday that they have released veteran Tsepo Masilela, Sibusiso Khumalo, William Twala, Keegan Buchanan and Edmore Chirambadare as they look to make space for new signings. Twala spent last season on loan at Maritzburg United, while Chirambadare and Khumalo were not used by the club.
Masilela has been battling with injuries and with his contract coming to an end this month the club decided that they will not renew it.
Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung explained their decision to terminate the players’ contracts.
“As stated previously, we are releasing a number of players. There is Brilliant Khuzwayo, who signed with Orlando Pirates after his Chiefs contract expired at the end of last season. Tsepo Masilela’s contract will not be renewed. We are terminating the contracts of Twala, Buchanan, Chirambadare and Khumalo. These players are talented but couldn’t find their form with us.
“We do not want to keep any good player inactive and that’s why we will allow them to express their talents elsewhere.”
Motaung also disclosed that discussions are under way to send Emmanuel Letlotlo out on loan. “Furthermore, we are in the process of acquiring a new coach and working on bolstering the squad with new signings.
“It will be just a matter of time before we will make further announcements.
“We are aware of the anticipation from our stakeholders, considering that we have not seen much success. We are working around the clock to find the right coach and players to sign.”
