ABad Boys spin­off se­ries fea­tur­ing Gabrielle Union and Jes­sica Alba is fi­nally in the works. The show, based on the film fran­chise that starred Martin Lawrence and Will Smith as two Mi­ami an­tidrug de­tec­tives, has been picked up by Char­ter Com­mu­ni­ca­tions, mak­ing it their first orig­i­nal scripted se­ries.

The story fol­lows Union’s Syd Bur­nett, sis­ter to Mar­cus (Lawrence) and love in­ter­est to Mike (Smith) from Bad BoysII, more than a decade af­ter the events of the movie.

Bur­nett, now an LAPD detective, will be seen team­ing up with Alba’s Nancy McKenna. Both the ac­tors also took to In­sta­gram to share the news.

“The will they or won’t they is over ... it’s hap­pen­ing peo­ple! LA’s Finest has been of­fi­cially picked up by Char­ter Com­mu­ni­ca­tions. Mark­ing their first ma­jor se­ries or­der for Spec­trum.

“Can­not wait for you to watch @ jes­si­caalba and I kick a** and take names! 13 episodes com­ing at ya in 2019!” Union wrote along­side the show’s poster.

Alba added: “We are here to kick a** and take names!!!

“LA’s Finest has been of­fi­cially picked up by Char­ter Com­mu­ni­ca­tion­s­mark­ing their first ma­jor se­ries or­der for Spec­trum. @gabunion and I are com­ing at you guys hot with 13 episodes in 2019. It’s go­ing down.”

Both the ac­tors are also at­tached as ex­ec­u­tive pro­duc­ers. The show airs next year. – TOI
