The penthouses at the top of the exclusive One and Only Resort in Cape Town are in a league of their own, writes Lea Jacobs

WHEN the One & Only was built in Cape Town it was the first luxury hotel to open in the area for 10 years. Envisaged by hotelier Sol Kerzner, the One and Only Resort group now features seven hotels around the globe and has become famous for the level of service and high standards of accommodation that they offer.

Set in exotic places amid glorious scenery, the hotels are in a class of their own.

Since the Soccer World Cup, Cape Town has cemented its reputation as the most popular tourist destination in Africa.

The region was voted the top holiday destination by British Airways travellers.

The tourism industry accounts for 9,8% of the province’s GDP and employs about 10% of the province’s workforce.

With its stunning beaches, spectacular scenery and wide variety of activities, Cape Town continues to attract the crème de la crème of the international jet set, and the One and Only has come into its own, attracting famous names to our shores.

No wonder: with exceptional views of Table Mountain and the Victoria & Albert Waterfront, the hotel offers outstanding accommodation and service in a city held in high regard by tourists.

Kerzner has proved time and time again that he has what it takes to build beautiful hotels. Entering the industry in 1962, he has gone on to build some of the finest hotels in the country, including the Beverly Hills in Umhlanga Rocks in 1964 and Sun City, his most ambitious project at the time, in 1979.

Then he built hotels in the US and the Bahamas, before launching the One and Only brand. There are currently seven hotels around the world that share the One and Only name, including Mexico and Mauritius. The resorts are highly regarded, offering the holiday experiences of a lifetime to those that can afford it.

Two penthouses in the Cape Town hotel are on the market, with panoramic views of Table Mountain and Robben Island.

“Owning one of those properties affords the buyer the most sought-after address in SA, status beyond measure and an incomparable luxury lifestyle,” says Patricio Pugnalin, from Greeff Properties, who, in an affiliation with Christie’s, have the mandate to market the properties.

“The Greeff-Christie’s affiliation provides custom-tailored solutions for exceptional properties. The authority of the brand, the strength of the global relationships forged by the affiliate network, and the power of the property marketing strategies work together to achieve a successful real estate transaction.”

The group uses various marketing strategies, ranging from advertisements featured in the Luxury Collection to Christie’s international estate magazine and targeted property brochures that are delivered to prime international prospects and are displayed in affiliate offices and Christie’s locations around the world.

The first penthouse on the rooftop of the hotel measures 1 440m², while the second has 810m² of floor space.

The penthouses feature expansive living space, including generous dining areas and broad outdoor terraces with panoramic views, providing the perfect environment for formal dining or a cocktail party at sunset.

Accessed by private lifts, each penthouse has four en suite bedrooms with Table Mountain views, including a master suite with hisand-hers bathrooms.

Residents of the penthouses at One & Only Cape Town can call upon a wide variety of personalised services from the resort, from dedicated butlers to private catering from the Michelinstarred restaurant Nobu.

This unparalleled urban lifestyle includes access to the One & Only Spa, a state-of-the-art fitness centre offering expert personal training, Yoga, Pilates and a 350m² heated, infinity-edge pool. Contact: Greeff Properties Patricio Pugnalin 082 874 2464
