Af­ford­able liv­ing in sought-af­ter Cape

Michelle Swart finds out about two new apart­ment blocks that have launched at Buh-rein Es­tate

LO­CATED 25 min­utes from Cape Town be­tween Dur­banville and Kraai­fontein, Buh-Rein Es­tate is sit­u­ated on 87,62ha and will in­clude 86 sub­de­vel­op­ments, with 3 241 apart­ments, 133 free­stand­ing homes and 137 town­houses.

MSP De­vel­op­ments has launched two new apart­ment blocks in the es­tate, both priced at un­der R500 000 a unit.

CEO Ri­aan Roos says his group’s mis­sion is to fa­cil­i­tate com­mu­nity up­lift­ment by pro­vid­ing su­pe­rior qual­ity, af­ford­able hous­ing.

“This sec­tor of the mar­ket has tended to be over­looked by most, which may ex­plain why we are see­ing such a great re­sponse to Buh-Rein Es­tate. Of the first six apart­ment de­vel­op­ments of 252 apart­ments that we re­leased, 181 have been sold in just over nine months.”

The rapid sales have prompted MSP De­vel­op­ments to launch the next two apart­ment de­vel­op­ments, both priced at un­der R500 000 a unit.

Saint Clair, which con­sists of 54 units with stan­dard fin­ishes, of­fers buy­ers two-bed­room units with one full fam­ily bath­room and one park­ing bay, while Knot­ting Hill, which con­sists of 39 units with premium fin­ishes, of­fers buy­ers two-bed­room units with one full fam­ily bath­room and one park­ing bay.

Roos says the es­tate is see­ing a good re­sponse from both in­vestors and fu­ture res­i­dents.

“We have found that many peo­ple choose Buh-Rein apart­ments as the per­fect so­lu­tion for their stu­dent chil­dren, since it is only 16km from Stel­len­bosch and there is daily shut­tle from the es­tate to Stel­len­bosch.

“The es­tate is only 3km from the N1 high­way, so it is well lo­cated for ac­cess­ing all aspects of greater Cape Town, the Winelands and False Bay.

“The af­ford­able hous­ing mar­ket has the big­gest de­mand, not only in Cape Town but coun­try­wide, which far out­strips past and present sup­ply. This, in turn, will lead to apart­ments such as those in Saint Clair and Knot­ting Hill ap­pre­ci­at­ing faster in value than higher-priced units, and this bodes well for house­hold wealth cre­ation and up­lift­ment in this sec­tor.”
