A luxury lifestyle in the country
the home for SA’s first Els Club, Ernie Els said: “Right from the start we recognised this as a fantastic site for a golf course. It’s a beautiful part of the world with great views of the Magaliesberg mountain range, which lends itself to the use of the natural features of the landscape and protecting all that the environment has to offer. We knew that with the right partners we could create something unique and that it would be the best place to open the first Els Club in the country. This has been a very special golf course design project for me personally. I would go so far as to say that the Els Club Copperleaf encapsulates, in one destination, everything that I love about family living in a country club environment. The course represents a fair and enjoyable test for golfers of all standards.”
The golf course is set among grasslands and rocks and has its share of clear fairways, demanding bunkers and water hazards. A golf performance centre offers the expertise and modern technology to assist players of all levels and ages with their skills.
Els said that the Els Club Copperleaf has become one of a premier collection of golf courses that bear his name, each of which embodies the character of some of the world’s most important golf destinations, with facilities and standards inspired by the very best of the golf clubs he has played in his 20-plus years touring the world as a professional golfer.
“With the new full-service clubhouse, which offers great food, a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere as well as the spa and gym, cricket ground and indoor and outdoor swimming pools, we couldn’t be more proud of what has been achieved here. It is bound to become a popular and sought after address,” he said.
Copperleaf carries the heritage of being built on land once lived on by Ernie Els’s grandfather, and the acclaim of being the second Els Club to be established globally. The development has its own water treatment works that recycles grey and sewerage water for the irrigation of the golf course, and 2 700 trees are being planted to add to the existing park, wetlands and grasslands.
It is also worth mentioning that Copperleaf is home to a number of protected species, including the giant bull frog and the African grass owl. Price: Stands from R375 000 to R1,5m Contact: Copperleaf sales office 012 0720 200
