Michelle Funke finds out why Winelands Estate is an appealing option for luxury lifestyle buyers
NESTLED in the scenic Paarl/Franschhoek Valley with views of the Simonsberg Mountains, the Winelands Estate is one of the most sought-after wine and olive estates in the Cape Winelands primarily for its setting and generous property sizes, says Seeff Franschhoek agent, Adell Ferreira.
Aside from appealing to residential buyers from within the area and nearby commercial centres such as Stellenbosch, it is also within the catchment area for Cape Town buyers and upcountry buyers looking for a country escape in a sought-after setting.
The 20ha estate is home to just 32 exclusive freehold properties scattered amid vineyards and olive groves. Ferreira says land sizes in the estate vary from about 4,000m2 to about 1,1ha that would include a vineyard or olive grove. Prices for property here, she notes, range upwards of R1.8m.
The estate has a distinct character with individually designed and crafted homes in variations of the Tuscan building style. Earthy tones and natural finishes such as stone, wood and terracotta lend not only aesthetic appeal to the homes, but also seamlessly blend with the natural surroundings.
“Although it is still a fairly new estate and homes do not often change hands, complete homes typically sell for upwards of R6m to about the R14.5m mark. For this kind of price tag, buyers would get an 850m2luxury villa on a plot of just over 4,000m2.”
