Bahnstorming bruiser

Business Day - Motor News - - MOTOR NEWS -

FOR: Insane performance, super cool looks, quality, comfort and luxury AGAINST: Fuel consumption, not really suited for off-road use fortable or sporty they would like the ride to be.

This is definitely not an offroad vehicle as the huge 295/40ZR20 Pirelli rubber is not quite suited to rough terrain. However, if ever you really needed to take this ML63 off the beaten track then it is reassuring to know that it makes use of Merc’s 4ETS system, which will in the event of one or more wheels spinning automatically apply the brakes and reduce throttle input to allow the wheels to regain traction. It also comes with hill descent control and the ride height is electronically adjustable.

As for luxury, the ML63 certainly comes equipped with all the bells and whistles you could ever hope for. Inside you immediately notice the sporty, yet comfortable AMG detailed seats covered in black leather. Standard features on our test model included an excellent sound system with a front loader CD-shuttle, a DVDplayer, satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, electric seats with seat warmers, cruise control and an electric sunroof. Safety features included an array of airbags as well as ABS braking with EBD and stability control.

After 78 000km the vehicle appears to be in very good condition. It’s also good to know that the Mercedes-Benz maintenance plan is still running. As far as value for money goes, this ML63 certainly does deliver, especially taking into account that a new one will set you back a cool R1,2m
