No olive branch as EU slams new tariff

The EU on Wednesday furiously criticised a decision by the US to impose higher duties on imports of Spanish olives, as a bitter transatlantic trade feud worsened. Brussels was responding angrily to the latest trade salvo from the Trump administration, which followed Washington’s shock decision earlier in June to impose punishing tariffs on metals imports from Europe and other close allies.
