Saddle up for the Cape Town Cycle Tour entry rush
IT’S OFFICIAL! It’s entry season for the 2018 Cape Town Cycle Tour and the cyclists are raring to go.
David Bellairs, the marketing, media and sponsorship director for the tour, said riders who registered for the 2017 tour would be given special preferential entry into next year’s event.
“E-mails were sent out in batches to every rider who entered and registered for the 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour at this year’s Cape Town Cycle Tour Expo,” Bellairs said.
Due to severe weather conditions, the event was cancelled.
“The offer of a guaranteed entry to the 2018 Cape Town Cycle Tour, at 2017 entry fee rates, had to be taken up by 4pm on September 13 (Wednesday). After this date and time, the preferential entry was forfeited. Those wishing to enter may still join the general application process,” Bellairs said.
Stalwarts who have cycled in more than 21 events have until Tuesday to enter the race. Cyclists wanting to participate in the 2018 tour can apply online at www. capetowncycletour.com from 1pm on Wednesday. Entry applications will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and will close when 35 000 riders have entered. E-mails will be sent to these successful applicants from Wednesday for a week.
