KFC ‘racist at­tack­ers’ re­manded

FOUR of the five Pre­to­ria men ac­cused of as­sault­ing a cou­ple in an al­leged racist at­tack at a KFC have been re­manded in cus­tody by the Pre­to­ria North Mag­is­trate’s Court.

Yes­ter­day mag­is­trate Motl­hoki Ra­pu­lana re­manded Stephen Nel, Joshua Scholtz, Dicky Ju­nior van Rooyen and Mar­ius Hard­ing un­til Oc­to­ber 18. They face charges of at­tempted mur­der, among oth­ers.

Hard­ing had pre­vi­ously aban­doned his bail ap­pli­ca­tion and the fifth ac­cused, Or­ck­ert Muller, had been granted R5 000 bail. Muller will re­turn to court next month.

Yes­ter­day the pros­e­cu­tion re­quested the post­pone­ment, cit­ing out­stand­ing state­ments from cer­tain wit­nesses and a bal­lis­tic re­port. – ANA
