Famine threat still critical

Cape Argus - - WORLD -

UN EMERGENCY relief co-ordinator Mark Lowcock is set to address the General Assembly in New York next week, urging world leaders to maintain their financial and political support for the Lake Chad Basin crisis, so that millions of people facing starvation in northeast Nigeria are saved.

Lowcock said millions of Nigerians still faced famine in the northeast.

Their lives would be at risk should the international community stop providing support.
