POLICE say six Vanguard Estate youths were rushed to hospital last night after being injured in an explosion inside a house in Goud Road.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said all the victims were males aged between 15 and 20.
“We can confirm an investigation is under way into the circumstances surrounding the explosion of a device at a house in Goud Road. Our officers are still at the scene trying to gather more information,” he said last night.
The police’s bomb disposal unit was on the scene along with the dog unit.
Unconfirmed reports said there might have been more explosive devices inside the house.
Paramedics said they were called out at about 7.15pm.
EMS spokesperson Robert Daniels said two of the victims were seriously injured, while three were rushed to hospital in critical condition. The condition of the sixth was not known. Two were believed to have suffered severe injuries to their limbs.
Daniels said investigations were still under way but the device appeared to be a hand grenade.
