Francesca Hornak (R375)

I LOVED this comic drama, which abounds with contemporary types and tropes.

The plot is genius: curmudgeonly restaurant reviewer Andrew, his sweet Sloaney wife Emma and their frivolous daughter Phoebe are in quarantine because other daughter, doctor Olivia, is back from Africa possibly carrying an Ebola-like virus. Given the secrets the family are keeping from each other, house arrest in North Norfolk is risky enough. But what really sends things into overdrive is the wonderful Jesse, a sunny, funny, camp Californian who arrives in freezing Cromer on the trail of his natural father. Who could that possibly be? Everyone goes on a journey and the results are hilarious and touching.
