Top ac­count­ing pupils hon­oured at Olympiad

FAIR­BAIRN Col­lege Grade 11 pupil Taariq Mowzer and Ron­de­bosch Boys’ High School’s Tim­o­thy Mur­phy shared the podium with fel­low pupil KJ Becker of Richards Bay Chris­tian School at the 2018 Na­tional Ac­count­ing Olympiad.

The SA In­sti­tute of Pro­fes­sional Ac­coun­tants (Saipa) hon­oured the win­ners for their re­mark­able per­for­mance. The pres­ti­gious award cer­e­mony was held at the Wan­der­ers Club in Joburg yes­ter­day.

The stu­dents, their teach­ers and their schools were recog­nised and awarded a Na­tional Win­ners’ cer­tifi­cate, a tro­phy as well as prizes to­talling R35 000, Saipa lap­top bags and branded ham­pers.

Zobuzwe Ngob­ese, mar­ket­ing and busi­ness de­vel­op­ment ex­ec­u­tive at Saipa said: “We’re very happy with the en­thu­si­as­tic re­sponse we re­ceived from all over the coun­try.

“It will make a big dif­fer­ence to the fu­ture of ac­count­ing and the qual­ity of the pro­fes­sion.”
