SQUARING UP FOR fashion
This is the season for store openings.
As the malls around Joburg complete their long-running revamps, their trendy stores offer endless opportunities for a party after the ribbon-cuttings.
Thursday night belonged to CS-quared at the new-look Rosebank Mall.
The city’s fashionable men and women stepped out to savour the finest the label has to offer – and pick up a few special items and accessories – as well as enjoy the company, free drinks and good music. Sadly, the food looked like a Pick n Pay platter so I kept away.
But the night was graced with the presence of the don of style, Stoan Seate, who was kitted out in CS-quared’s latest. I loved the trendy grey and black tartan jacket and was thankful he left his famous blue suede shoes at home, opting instead for red leather.
One of my favourite suit makers, Zano Sithetho of Skorzch fame, made a rare appearance on the party scene.
The Link presenter Lerato Kganyago, in a beautiful blooming flower dress, led a brigade of women who came to “spy” on the men.
Also there were actresses Lolo Mphephi who plays the sassy domestic Pam on Isibaya, Omuhle Gela from Muvhango and model Andiswa Manxiwa.
Comedian Marc Lottering put in an appearance, too, as well as Intersexions actor young Phila Madlingozi.
The evergreen radio man Bob Mabena of Kaya FM stopped over for a drink or two, but it’s the fountain of youth that man drinks from I wondered about. In his mid 40s, he could pass for a twentysomething.
Guests were treated to a fashion show to display what’s in store and to forecast future trends.
The place was crowded and the DJ kept us going with his selection of dance tunes. A good night out.
