We all need assistance with names we can’t pronounce every once in a while – be it a politician, a singer, a country or a person you’ve just met.

Getting a name wrong is not only embarrassing, but is often very disrespectful.

A new app, Namez, seeks to change all that. Available on the web and for Android devices, it has a database of famous and common names of people, places and companies you can search through.

The app is designed to prevent those awkward moments when one has to spend a long time trying to perfect the correct pronunciation of a colleague’s name as it comes with a preloaded database of tricky names, some familiar and others not so familiar.

The great thing is that you can add your name on to the database and make it accessible to others in the same way.

You can share the audio of your name over social media, in emails or even embed it on your site or blog.

The app is not currently available for Apple iOS devices, but according to the developers, it soon will be. – Siyabonga Sithole Download the app at
