The Kyokushin-kan Karate Organisation will host a national tournament at the Thokoza Auditorium Hall in Ekurhuleni, Joburg, on Saturday.

Wandile Ncapai, the president of Karate SA (KSA), said all nine provinces would take part in the full-contact event.

“The tournament is unique because it is happening when we have just established the KSA full-contact federation, which is affiliated to the SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee,” said Ncapai.

He said although the contest was hosted by the Kyokushin-kan, the KSA encouraged all organisations in the country to be part of the event and to demonstrate unity.

The tournament will be using the International Karate Association rules during the proceedings.

“As the national executive, we are calling all karate followers to turn out in their numbers to witness real knockdown karate,” said Ncapai. – Pule Mokhine
