Moretele Park Tribute Concert Saturday, August 30 Moretele Park, Mamelodi, Pretoria Gates open at 9am Tickets R300 at computicket.com The township of Mamelodi will come to a standstill for a starstudded line-up as Mafikizolo, Mi Casa, Lira, Thomas Chauke, Bhudaza, Jonas Gwangwa, Johnny Clegg, Don Laka, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Ringo, Letta Mbulu and Zonke hit the stage.
This annual event has become a musical pilgrimage for festivalgoers over the past 17 years. This year, the organisers say there will be plenty to celebrate as the country marks 20 years of democracy.
Festivalgoers are encouraged to arrive early so that they don’t miss their favourite artists.
Accessible to the people of Mamelodi and surrounding areas, the festival plans to not only demonstrate the power of South African music, but provide temporary employment for the local community and influence local tourism. As part of the festival’s aim to empower and help young musos achieve their full potential and understand the business of music, there will be free amateur musician workshops before the concert.
These tribute concert workshops, hosted by Drakensberg Promotions, will cover everything from personal management and responsibility to recording, performing and publishing.
Be sure not to miss this day of fun under the Tshwane sun. For more information on the
music workshops, email email@example.com
