Freeze-frame on these cool Smeg fridges

CityPress - - Opportunity index -

Fridge brand Smeg has always been the ultimate cool kitchen accessory. Basically, everyone wants to own a Smeg, but not everyone can afford one. Beer brand Grolsch recently teamed up with the brand and asked 13 local artists to customise their fridges.

A few of the artists really embraced the challenge, creating strong, unique pieces that complement the appliance. Like the striking monochrome face by Joburg artist Lehlogonolo Mashaba, and the unsettling image of an apartheid policeman by Mpho Madi and Grace Rampa. The fridges are now up for grabs in a Grolsch competition. Now that’s cool. Check out the rest of the artists’ Smeg designs by downloading Zappar and scanning the thunderbolt icon pictured to the left. – Grethe Koen
