A one-team show is unhealthy for the league

I fully agree with Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe that his club’s policy of loaning out players needs to be reviewed.

My question is: Why are they buying these players in the first place if they are going to loan them out?

We want a competitive league and not a one-team show. It is unhealthy for the league to be dominated by one team just because they have an unfair advantage when opposition players are not allowed to play against them.

It must also be noted that players join Sundowns because they want to play and not just to sit on the bench or watch from the stands.

They all want to play and showcase their talents.

My worry is that this setup has led to a situation where we now only have three clubs challenging Sundowns for the league.

They are Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits. It shouldn’t be like that. The Premier Soccer League should come to the party in finding a solution for this conundrum.
