Kelis is on the World Jam menu

CityPress - - News -

Increasingly quirky R&B star Kelis is heading for our shores for the inaugural World Jam Music Festival, which will take place in Durban. She’s billed to perform on December 6 alongside local rockers Prime Circle and British act The Kooks.

“2 days. 60 acts. 350 artists,” is how the festival is billing itself, slightly reminiscent of the ambitions of the botched Tribe One festival in Tshwane. The Milkshake singersongwriter has not been as prominent as Nicki Minaj, who was on the bill for Tshwane. Instead, she has been honing her gourmetchef skills. She has developed a cooking show for TV, released a line of sauces and is writing a cookbook.

Cooking is so big for her that her new album is called Food. The first track is called Breakfast and on it, her four-year-old son asks: “Hi guys, are you hungry? My mum made food.” Other songs on the album have titles like Jerk Ribs, Friday Fish Fry and Biscuits N’ Gravy.
