‘I have the right to pray for strippers’

CityPress - - News -

A Washington man has applied to get the names and addresses of every registered stripper in the state so that he could pray for them.

Kiro TV and The Huffington Post reported that David van Vleet told the court he needed names and addresses to ensure that the women had a shot at salvation. Strippers and strip club managers in the state must have an entertainer’s licence.

“I would pray for those dancers by name,” Van Vleet said, according to TheNewsTribune.com. “I’m a Christian … We have the right to pray for people.”

The Pierce County Auditor’s Office notified the people whose details Van Vleet sought, and he was taken to court by a strip club manager and a dancer.

Jenn Kaplan, representing the offended entertainers, said many strippers “have an enormous privacy interest”.

Van Vleet’s application was blocked.
