We’re happy to learn that former Generations stars Atandwa Kani and Thato Molamu have found a home on SABC1’s hard-hitting new drama series Kowethu, which will replace the tired and uninspiring Mfolozi Street.

The show looks at hardships and romances in a bustling township called Kowethu.

When a tyre bursts, a bakkie crashes into a roadside hair salon. The driver tries to avoid the members of the community who are baying for his blood. He sets off, leaving his passengers behind. They disappear when the cops arrive at the scene and end up settling in the township of Kowethu. Choosing to stay comes with its own challenges and perils, and leaves these strangers, and the town, forever changed.

Kani will play Dr Sibu Mahlangu, while Molamu will play Musa, an abusive boyfriend.

The cast is a good mix of new and old acting talents, and includes Thando Thabethe, Warren Masemola, Yule Masiteng and Vatiswa Ndara. This will hopefully be a refreshing new show on SABC1.
