‘Sex meals’ cause HIV

CityPress - - News -

Uganda’s Minister for Ethics and Integrity Simon Lokodo this week blamed a rise in HIV infections on sexual immorality. “Instead of people going to have lunch, they prefer sex as afternoon [meals],” he was reported as saying at an Aids memorial by the Daily Nation newspaper. He asked the Uganda Aids Commission to vet messages on HIV/Aids before they are run by the media, adding that some of these messages inadvertently encouraged the spread of the virus. “Despite the first lady’s efforts to realise an HIV-free generation, Ugandans have turned a deaf ear up to now,” Lokodo was reported as saying. Meanwhile, Roland Kaginda Mugume, the chairperson of Uganda’s parliamentary committee on HIV/Aids, appealed to Ugandans to be faithful to their sexual partners to stop the spread of the virus.

The magistrate said he had considered cancelling Goreraza’s licence and sending him to jail, but opted for a fine because of his remorse and he was a first-time offender.
