Kids’ show salutes African identity

CityPress - - Trending -

Amid a sea of kids’ TV highlighting Western life and shows with lily-white cartoon characters, a new animated show called Bino & Fino celebrates African identity. The title characters are switched on, curious and playfully question the world – gently touching on issues of race, gender and black identity in a way that is appropriate for children and builds a bank of indigenous knowledge.

Currently only available via DVD order, the project intends to expand and it’s our hope we’ll see it alongside other popular programmes on our screens.

The website is full of testimonials from parents who love the show. – Binwe Adebayo
